(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter today made the following statement after President Obama’s address on the future of U.S. troop levels in Afghanistan:
“I'm looking at the details of this plan carefully,” said Vitter. “Of course we all want all of our troops home as soon as possible. I just hope the president is listening to our military leaders so we don't lose the real gains we've fought so hard for. And I hope he avoids pre-announced, rigid timelines that just aid and embolden the enemy.”
Vitter is a member of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee.
