Senator Dick Lugar (R-IN), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following response to the public release that the State Department will conduct a supplemental environmental impact statement for the Keystone XL oil pipeline project.
“Secure and reliable oil supplies are vital for our economic recovery and for job creation. The most secure and reliable oil is that which we produce domestically and import from our ally Canada. Every day of delay, is another day we are put at risk by hostile foreign oil powers far from our shores,” Lugar said. “Swift approval of the Keystone XL pipeline will help create jobs almost immediately.”
“In my judgment, the Keystone XL pipeline should be approved immediately, not after months or even years of more delay,” Lugar said.
